The Reston-Dulles Section participated in an interactive Lunch and Learn series with The Girls Empowerment Institute Camp sponsored by Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston, VA. During the Lunch and Learn, Section Member Cypriana McCray along with Angela Mitchell, President and CEO of ARM Consulting Services, LLC discussed their career choices and the importance of education, finding mentors throughout all stages of life and challenging the girls to think about career choices now to prepare themselves for their future.

McCray and Mitchell emphasized to the girls to pursue their dreams and goals in any field or industry of interest to them, to get involved in their schools, churches and communities that will allow them meet other young girls and women who may potentially be friends and Mentors for years to come. We hope the interactive series demonstrated positive role models and images of African American Women in Business to our emerging leaders. We look forward to partnering with Heritage Fellowship Church on community initiatives in the near future.

The Girls Empowerment Institute is for rising 4th-12th grade girls who learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics during their week-long attendance of the Camp.  For more information on the Girls Empowerment Institute Camp, please contact Olivia Toatley at otoatley@gmail.com or Kim Collins at foreverpearls3@gmail.com.
